Committee & Staff

 LBCCG President Peter Stevens

Peter and Fiona Stevens arrived in Maleny in 2000 and Peter joined LBCCG as a member due to his interest in rehabilitating the riparian vegetation on their beef cattle farm. Before he knew it he had been voted as President and has held that position ever since. Fortunately he also had a degree in applied science and horticultural technology which has been useful although he admits it has been a steep learning curve with the management of water and catchments becoming increasingly complex.

Peter practices what he preaches: he has carried out extensive on-ground works on his property including stream crossings, offstream watering, fencing and revegetation of riparian areas. LBCCG has funded some of this work but the vast majority has been paid for from the Stevens’ own pockets, showing their dedication to improving the water quality and riparian zones of the area.

LBCCG Vice-President Steve Skull

Dr Steve Skull has been a member of LBCCG for the past three years and during this time he has taken on the role of Vice President.  He has lived in Maleny for 5.5 years and is currently the Manager of Sunshine Coast Regional Council's Environment Policy Branch.  He has more than 15 years environmental management experience including being responsible for environmental policy and strategy development (climate change, waterways management, biodiversity conservation, integrated water management, coastal management), designing and implementing large-scale waterway management and rehabilitation projects, allocating community grant programs, protected area management and threatened species management.  He has a keen interest in working locally to provide a better environment for the Lake Baroon catchment and its community.

Steve brings valuable skills and Local Government knowledge to the Group as well as a great sense of humour, and a love of red wine and the Adelaide Crows.

 LBCCG Secretary Gillian Pechey

Gillian Pechey has been a member of LBCCG since it was formed in 1992.  She represents Manduka Cooperative, a group of landowners, some of whose land was resumed for the Dam.  As well as her role as secretary, she has been involved in a number of projects including Name that Stream, and the production of Maleny Water: A layman’s guide to the greatest natural resource this region has – water. Gillian is a tireless worker whose dedication to the environment is an inspiration to us all.

LBCCG Treasurer Darryl Ebenezer

Darryl Ebenezer is the Manager of Barung Landcare and kindly volunteered to act as Treasurer for the Group in 2007. We value his knowledge in accounting, MYOB and general computer use. He is also a valuable link to Barung Landcare.

LBCCG Catchment Coordinator Mark Amos

Catchment Coordinator, Mark Amos has had a varied career in the environmental industry, including pest and weed control, river management, Landcare, fencing, revegetation and seed collection. Mark moved to the Sunshine Coast in 2005.
